Paphos police investigate $12,000 crypto scam targeting 27‑year‑old

Police in Paphos, Cyprus are investigating a fraud case in which a 27‑year‑old woman was deceived into sending cryptocurrency worth about $12,000. The victim posted a request for help with buying and selling crypto in a social‑media group chat. Unknown individuals responded, posing as advisers and convincing her to transfer crypto on three occasions.

When the promised funds did not appear in her bank account, she filed a complaint with the Economic Crime Investigation Division of the Paphos police. Authorities are now probing the scheme and warning the public that online accounts can conceal perpetrators and that users should remain vigilant.
