Pappu Yadav claims knife attack during Delhi press conference

On 2 August 2026, independent MP Pappu Yadav held a press conference at his residence in Delhi. During the event a person allegedly threw a slipper at him and attempted to approach with a knife. Security personnel and supporters restrained the suspect, who was handed over to police. Yadav said the incident was a "murder plot" and warned that "if the people were not there, my death was certain." He accused Delhi police of failing to provide adequate protection despite a prior written complaint and alleged that the police acted as spectators.
