Pappu Yadav claims knife attack during Delhi press conference

On 2 August 2026, independent MP Pappu Yadav held a press conference at his residence in Delhi. During the event a person allegedly threw a slipper at him and attempted to approach with a knife. Security personnel and supporters restrained the suspect, who was handed over to police. Yadav said the incident was a "murder plot" and warned that "if the people were not there, my death was certain." He accused Delhi police of failing to provide adequate protection despite a prior written complaint and alleged that the police acted as spectators. Opposition leaders, including Congress member Udit Raj, called for an impartial investigation and better security for the MP. Police said the investigation is ongoing and have not yet confirmed the presence of a weapon.
