Threats against Indian MP Pappu Yadav

In late July 2026, two online complaints posted on MP Pappu Yadav’s official website threatened to shoot him and bomb his family. The alleged sender, identifying himself as Mukesh Mishra, provided personal details, prompting Yadav to request an immediate FIR and the arrest of the perpetrators. Delhi police’s cyber‑cell began tracing the IP address and escalated the case to the DCP level, while additional security measures for the MP and his relatives were considered.

On 2 August 2026, Yadav held a press conference at his Delhi residence. During the event a person threw a slipper and attempted to approach Yadav with a knife; security personnel and supporters restrained the individual, who was handed over to police. Yadav described the incident as a “murder plot” and said his death would have been certain without the crowd’s intervention. He criticised the Delhi police for inadequate protection despite his earlier complaint. Opposition figures, including Congress member Udit Raj, called for an impartial investigation and improved security. Police said the investigation is ongoing and have not yet confirmed the presence of a weapon. No injuries were reported.

The incidents are being investigated as part of a broader threat environment targeting the MP ahead of his parliamentary activities.
