Papua Police Intensify Crackdowns on Illegal Alcohol and KKB Threats
The Jayapura city police’s Narcotics Unit conducted an early‑morning raid on July 18, seizing 97 bottles and cans of illegal alcoholic beverages and detaining four suspected sellers in the Entrop area. Confiscated brands included Anggur Api, Vodka Iceland, and Whiskey Robinson, among others. Police said the operation is part of an ongoing effort to curb the sale of illicit liquor, which they view as a frequent trigger for crime and public‑order disturbances.
In Intan Jaya’s Sugapa district, the Damai Cartenz‑2026 security task force carried out patrols of vital infrastructure and public‑service locations to prevent attacks by armed criminal groups (KKB). The force also distributed social assistance and emphasized a human‑centred approach, aiming to build trust with residents while maintaining safety across the region.
