Pará prosecutors seek ineligibility for Governor-elect Daniel Santos

The Electoral Public Ministry (MPE) has filed a lawsuit with the Regional Electoral Court of Pará (TRE-PA) seeking the ineligibility of Governor-elect Daniel Santos for eight years. The action also requests the revocation of mandates for re-elected Federal Deputy Alessandra Haber and elected State Deputy Alexandre Cesar Santos Gomes.

The investigation alleges abuse of political and economic power through the 'Olhar Cidadão' project, which provided free ophthalmological consultations, eye exams, and prescription glasses to vulnerable populations in December 2025. Prosecutors claim the initiative was used to promote the political images of the three candidates through the use of branded vehicles, large banners, and social media posts that directly associated the health services with their names and party colors.

Furthermore, the MPE has raised concerns regarding the financing of the project. While the investigators were told the program was funded by private donations, the prosecution noted a lack of transparency and formal accounting. The MPE argues that if private funds were used to attract votes from low-income citizens, it constitutes an abuse of economic power.
