Pará reports significant reduction in violent crimes

The state of Pará has reported a significant decrease in violent crimes. Data from the Secretariat of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup) shows that between 2018 and September 2026, there was a 56.58% reduction in Lethal and Intentional Violent Crimes (CVLI), which includes homicide, robbery resulting in death, and bodily injury followed by death.

In September 2026 alone, the state recorded 140 CVLI cases, a 17.65% decrease compared to the 170 cases recorded in September 2025. Compared to September 2018, which saw 332 cases, the reduction for the same month stands at 56.83%. Segup officials stated that these figures represent the preservation of 1,753 lives over the seven-year period.
