On Tuesday, 21 July, the Assembleia Legislativa da Paraíba passed Project Law 7.061/2026, establishing the Lei de Diretrizes Orçamentárias (LDO) for the fiscal year 2027. The vote followed an agreement with the state government on the treatment of parliamentary‑imposed amendments and included a discussion of Partial Veto 407/2026 on the 2026 budget bill. President of the Assembly Adriano Galdino highlighted the steady dialogue between the legislative and executive branches, while rapporteur deputy Chico Mendes called the LDO a key tool for fiscal responsibility, transparency and balanced resource management. The approved LDO sets the state’s priorities, guides the drafting of the subsequent Lei Orçamentária Anual, and contains a mechanism for automatic adjustments should the Supreme Court modify its stance on imposition rules. The session was broadcast live on TV Assembleia PB and YouTube.
