Paraíba Goat Farmers' Meeting Highlights Growth and Government Support

The 7th meeting of caprinocultores (goat farmers) in the Curimataú territory is taking place in Barra de Santa Rosa, Paraíba, and runs until Saturday, April 4. The event, which began on Thursday, April 2, includes lectures, animal exhibitions, product displays and cultural attractions, and is part of the Circuito Paraíba Agronegócios 2026.

Organised by Agência Xique‑Xique with co‑ordination from the state government through the Secretariat of Agribusiness Development (Sedap‑PB), the Secretariat of Family Agriculture and Semi‑Arid Development (SEAFDS) and the Projeto Cooperar, the meeting aims to strengthen the regional caprine sector. Sedap‑PB secretary Júnior Nóbrega said the sector "has been growing in Curimataú, generating employment and income for families," while the governor’s representative Neto Nepomuceno stressed the importance of the forum for discussing policies that advance family agriculture.

The programme features livestock shows, a milk and breed competition, workshops, and evening artistic performances, providing a platform for producers, officials and the community to exchange ideas and promote the development of goat farming in the region.
