Paraíba implements aquaculture and water security programs

The state of Paraíba is implementing several agricultural and water security initiatives across various municipalities. Through the Aquaculture Expansion and Development Program in Inland Waters, fingerlings are being distributed for fish stocking in 11 municipalities. The distribution schedule includes Ingá, Lagoa de Dentro, Mari, and Tacima, benefiting local associations and municipal secretariats.

Fingerling production is supported by four units: the Itaporanga Fish Farming Station, nurseries in Patos and Riachão de Araruna, and a partnership with the Federal Institute of Paraíba (IFPB) in Sousa.

In the municipality of Salgado de São Félix, the local government has signed a service order to construct 51 cisterns in rural areas. Conducted in partnership with the National Health Foundation (Funasa), this project aims to improve water security and provide rainwater storage for families to mitigate the effects of drought and support small-scale productive activities.
