Parabiago: 76-year-old man killed by train
A 76-year-old man died after being struck by a train near the via Battisti level crossing in Parabiago, Italy, on Sunday morning. Emergency services, including the Carabinieri, Railway Police, and the Red Cross, arrived at the scene around 10:21 AM, but were unable to resuscitate the man.
Railway Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident, including whether the event was accidental or intentional. Authorities are reviewing station surveillance footage to reconstruct the dynamics of the event.
The incident caused significant disruptions to rail traffic on the Milan-Varese line. Rete ferroviaria italiana (Rfi) reported suspended service between Parabiago and Busto Arsizio, with various trains facing delays of approximately one hour, cancellations, or shortened routes. The via Battisti level crossing remains operational while upgrades to the Rho-Gallarate line are ongoing.
