Fatal train incidents in Varese province
Overview
Two separate fatal incidents involving trains have occurred in the province of Varese, Italy.
On August 23, a 76-year-old man was killed after being struck by a train near the via Battisti level crossing in Parabiago. The incident led to investigations by Railway Police to determine if the event was accidental or intentional and caused disruptions on the Milan-Varese line, including service suspensions between Parabiago and Busto Arsizio.
On September 2, an 18-year-old woman was struck and killed by a Regio Express service near the Tradate-Abbiate Guazzone station. Following the incident, authorities launched investigations into the circumstances of the death. Trenord suspended rail traffic between Milan and Tradate, implementing replacement bus services between Tradate and Saronno.
