Paradip Port achieves record single-day coal loading
The Mechanised Coal Handling Plant (MCHP) of the Paradip Port Authority (PPA) achieved a new single-day coal loading record of 140,022 metric tonnes (MT) on October 10, 2026. The operation involved two vessels, M V APJ Indrani and M V Ripley Pinnacle.
This milestone surpasses the previous record of 137,500 MT set on May 29, 2022. The increase of 2,522 MT over the previous benchmark is attributed to improved operational efficiency and enhanced cargo-handling performance.
PPA Chairperson Susanta Kumar Purohit credited the achievement to the dedication and teamwork of the port's workforce. The milestone is part of the port's ongoing efforts to optimize infrastructure and increase its capacity as a major maritime hub on India's eastern coast.
