Paradip Port targets 170 MMT cargo throughput for FY 2026–27
The Paradip Port Authority (PPA) has set a target to handle more than 170 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo during the 2026–27 fiscal year. This goal represents an approximately 8.7% increase over the record 156.45 MMT handled in the 2025–26 fiscal year.
During a meeting with the Paradip Port Stevedores Association, PPA Chairperson Susanta Kumar Purohit emphasized the necessity of coordinated efforts between port officials and stakeholders to improve operational efficiency and competitiveness. Key discussion points included addressing operational bottlenecks, improving dredging, and managing traffic to ensure smooth cargo movement.
To support these targets, the PPA outlined several infrastructure improvement plans. These include upgrading roads both inside and outside the port area, developing better cargo-stacking areas, improving paved surfaces to prevent waterlogging, and promoting mechanization and green energy initiatives.
