Paraguay begins infrastructure projects in Villa Hayes and Luque

President Santiago Peña has inaugurated two major infrastructure projects in Paraguay aimed at improving public health and flood prevention.

In Villa Hayes, construction has begun on a modern drinking water treatment plant. Funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the project is managed by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) and is expected to provide a continuous water supply to approximately 34,000 residents. The facility will be administered by the Water and Sanitary Services Company (ESSAP).

In Luque, the government has launched a water protection project along the Paso Carreta stream. The initiative, also managed by the MOPC, involves an initial investment of 53,463 million Guaraníes to construct protection walls, concrete channels, and culverts. Beyond flood mitigation, the project includes the development of public recreational spaces, solar lighting, and accessible walkways for local communities.
