Paraguay cattle market shows price stability and limited supply
The export cattle market in Paraguay has entered October with stable prices and a reduced supply of livestock. Recent rainfall in various production zones has created difficulties in transporting animals from farms, temporarily limiting the availability of cattle for slaughter.
Negotiation bases are currently set at US$ 5.25 per carcass kilo for males and heifers, and US$ 5.05 for cows. However, many deals are closing with bonuses; pasture-raised males and heifers are reaching US$ 5.40 per kilo, while feedlot animals are exceeding US$ 5.50, with some specific agreements near US$ 5.70.
Market operators anticipate potential price increases in the coming weeks, driven by expected increased activity from the meatpacking industry. A significant factor could be the arrival of kosher slaughter crews, scheduled for approximately October 18, which is expected to boost demand.
