Paraguay completes first tomato shipment to Brazil

Paraguay's Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) has completed the first shipment of 28,000 kilograms of Paraguayan tomatoes to the Brazilian market. The shipment originated from the Blas Garay colony in the Coronel Oviedo district, Caaguazú department.

Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Carlos Giménez noted that the institution provided technical support throughout the planting, cultivation, and harvesting stages to ensure the export met necessary standards. This milestone follows three consecutive years of tomato exports from Paraguay, which previously included shipments to Uruguay.

Representatives from the Association of United Colonists, who participated in the production process, credited technical assistance for helping them achieve the quality standards required for international trade. The export is expected to open new market opportunities for national producers and increase income for rural families.
