Paraguay government pledges increased police force and resources

In Paraguay, the government held a ceremony to commemorate Police Agent Day and the feast of Santa Rosa de Lima at the Police Academy in Luque. During the event, National Police Commander César Silguero honored 557 officers who died in the line of duty during the democratic era and emphasized the institution's mission to maintain public order and protect citizen rights.

President Santiago Peña attended the ceremony, stating that a secure nation is essential for Paraguay's growth. He pledged continued government support for the force, including improved equipment, vehicles, and vests, while aiming to increase the total number of officers to over 40,000 by the end of the year. Peña noted that the public demands a police force that is more professional, ethical, and efficient.
