Chaco Biennial of Sculpture 2026 boosts tourism and local economy

The Bienal Internacional de Esculturas 2026 took place in Chaco Province, Argentina, from 17 to 26 July. The provincial government’s Institute of Tourism deployed a three‑point promotional operation—including a tourist information desk, a tourism‑promotion booth and a government space with talks and digital trivia—to showcase the region’s natural and cultural attractions. Organizers anticipate hotel and restaurant occupancy near 90 % and highlight the event’s multiplier effect on hotels, gastronomy, travel agencies, guides and local entrepreneurs.

A rescued‑reptile showcase by Fundación Naturaleza Reptil displayed native and exotic snakes, offering educational talks that emphasized the ecological role of snakes in controlling rodent‑borne diseases. A parallel temporary exhibition, “Escultores del Mundo,” presented works by national and international sculptors, honoring Stephan Erzia and Magda Frank and featuring pieces ranging from 3‑D printed forms to light‑based installations.

Provincial deputy Katia Blanc praised the biennial as a free family option that supports local artisans, small‑scale enterprises and SMEs, calling it “a great showcase to put Chaco and its people on display.” She also highlighted logistical concerns about public transport in the Gran Resistencia area.
