Paraguay increases migratory security procedures at borders
Paraguay's National Migration Directorate reported that between January and July 2026, it conducted 2,752 migratory security procedures. This figure has already surpassed the total for the entire year of 2025, which saw 2,697 procedures.
The increase is attributed to intensified controls at border crossings and airports under Law No. 6984/22. The breakdown of these procedures includes 1,499 exit bans, 1,000 entry denials, 144 deportations, 81 handover proceedings, and 28 extraditions. The most frequent cause for these actions was the lack of travel documents, accounting for 1,154 cases.
Among the 1,000 denied entries, the highest numbers involved citizens from Venezuela (335), Brazil (229), and Argentina (165), followed by Colombia (57) and China (50). Regarding deportations, Brazilian citizens were the most frequent, with 108 cases recorded.
