Paraguay prepares for municipal elections involving 5 million voters

Paraguay is entering a decisive week ahead of municipal elections scheduled for Sunday, October 4. More than 5 million eligible voters are expected to participate in the process to renew power across the country's 263 municipalities.

The election involves 630 mayoral candidates, nearly 19,000 nominations for municipal boards, and 5,927 positions in total. To facilitate the vote, 14,711 polling stations will be established across 1,187 electoral locations.

As political parties finalize mobilization and logistics, the Electoral Justice system has begun transporting voting machines, bulletins, and ballot boxes to remote areas of the national territory. The legal period for electoral propaganda is set to expire at 23:59 on Thursday, October 1.
