Paraguay municipal elections

Overview

Paraguay is preparing for municipal elections on October 4, which are viewed as a strategic indicator of the national political landscape leading up to the 2028 presidential elections. These contests are seen as a test for political alternation against the long-standing hegemony of the Asociación Nacional Republicana (ANR).

To assist voters, RCC is launching “El debate, su voto informado,” a series of candidate debates broadcast via RCC TV and RCC Radio across various locations, including Asunción, Luque, and San Lorenzo.

As the election approaches, candidates have intensified their campaigns. In Asunción, mayoral candidate Camilo Pérez has held rallies, or ‘banderazos,’ in several neighborhoods to demonstrate support. In Cambyretá, council candidate Néstor Valenzuela has been conducting neighborhood visits and coordinating election day logistics, such as voter transportation, while campaigning in support of Jaime Hinterleitner for mayor.
