Paraguay records record-breaking 14.5 million migratory movements in 2025
Paraguay has recorded 14,533,495 migratory movements during 2025, marking its highest figure ever and a 39% increase in just one year. This surge in connectivity, driven by increased tourism, trade, and international events, has placed new demands on national security and border control.
In recent operations, Paraguayan migration authorities prevented the entry of two foreign nationals with criminal records, including a U.S. citizen with a history of kidnapping and assault, and a Colombian national with drug trafficking and robbery convictions. Throughout 2025, the agency conducted 2,697 security procedures, representing a 23% increase from the previous year. These actions included 840 inadmissions, 143 expulsions, and 47 extraditions.
