Paraguayan Survivors Protest Judicial System Over Sexual Violence

On 9 August, marking the Day of Solidarity and Resarcimiento to Victims and Survivors of Sexual Violence, a group of survivors gathered outside the Judicial Power in Asunción, Paraguay. They presented a manifesto demanding faster judicial proceedings, comprehensive state protection for children and adolescents, and immediate health‑care support for victims.

The protesters called for the implementation of the Ministry of Education and Sciences' protocol in schools to prevent abuse, regular preventive workshops for students, teachers and families, and a public policy on sexual education. The day’s observance originated from Brisa Angulo’s initiative in Bolivia, which inspired a regional movement that the Paraguayan survivors referenced in their demands.
