Parama Ekadashi 2026 observed across India

On Thursday, 11 June 2026, Hindu devotees in India marked Parama Ekadashi, the most auspicious Ekadashi of the Krishna Paksha. The day is dedicated to worship of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi, with fasting from grains and recommended puja at the auspicious muhurat of 12:57 a.m. to 10:36 p.m. The fast concludes the next day with Parana between 5:23 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. Practitioners are advised to rise early, bathe, wear white, recite Vishnu mantras, and read passages such as the Vishnu Sahasranama and the Bhagavad Gita.

Charitable acts are also emphasized. Traditional donations include: • Annam (food grains or cooked vegetarian meals) to the needy, • Yellow items such as bananas, mangoes, turmeric, jaggery, or yellow clothing, • Water and earthen pots for travelers, • Educational material like books, notebooks and pens, • Cow service – offering green fodder, jaggery or other feed. These deeds are believed to invite Lakshmi’s lasting presence in the home and bring material and spiritual benefits.

The observance blends ritual worship with philanthropy, reflecting the day's mythic ties to figures like Kubera, King Harishchandra and the Pandava Arjuna, who are said to have attained prosperity and blessings through the fast.
