Paramaribo resident wounded in violent home robbery

Two masked men carried out a violent home robbery on Goede Verwachtingweg in Paramaribo while a couple was sleeping. The perpetrators threatened the residents with a firearm and demanded valuables.

During the incident, a struggle ensued between one of the attackers and a 43-year-old resident. A shot was fired during the confrontation, resulting in the resident sustaining a gunshot wound to the foot. The victims noted that poor lighting in the home made it difficult to identify the assailants.

The robbers specifically targeted raw gold, which they recovered from a bag kept under a bed. In addition to the gold, the attackers fled with jewelry and mobile phones.
