Paramount faces subscriber lawsuit over planned $110 billion Warner Bros acquisition

Paramount Pictures announced a bid to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery for roughly $110 billion, a deal that would make it the third‑largest streaming platform and give it about 24 percent of the U.S. theatrical‑distribution market. A group of Paramount subscribers has filed a lawsuit claiming the merger would raise prices, reduce choice, and breach antitrust laws by limiting competition in streaming, news and cinema distribution. The plaintiffs argue that the combination would diminish consumer options and create a dominant media conglomerate. Paramount responded that the lawsuit is unfounded and that the merger would strengthen competition, support creative talent and maintain consumer choice.

The merger is still subject to regulatory approval from the U.S. Justice Department and the European Union. Analysts note that the deal could reshape the Hollywood landscape, but its ultimate impact remains uncertain pending antitrust review.
