Paramount+ Greenlights Kenneth Branagh Drama ‘Laird’

Paramount+ announced the greenlighting of a new drama series titled *Laird*. The series, set in the modern Scottish Highlands, will star Oscar‑winning actor Kenneth Branagh, who also serves as executive producer.

The story follows the Laird of Castle Drummoch as he battles a wealthy American billionaire seeking to buy the glens, exploring themes of heritage, power and family loyalty. *Laird* was created by playwrights Jez Butterworth and John‑Henry Butterworth together with Georgia Lee, with the pilot directed by filmmaker Joe Wright. Production is handled by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios, and the series will premiere globally on Paramount+. No release date has been announced, though a 2027 launch is anticipated.
