Paramount Pictures to develop Cyberpunk 2077 live-action film

Paramount Pictures is developing a live-action film based on the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. The project will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, known for his work on the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises.

CD Projekt RED, the developer and rights holder of the franchise, will collaborate on the project. Co-CEO Michal Nowakowski expressed excitement regarding the partnership with Paramount, noting that further details will be released when the time is appropriate. Following the news, shares of the Polish gaming company saw a 3% increase in early trading.

Cyberpunk 2077 has reached 40 million copies sold worldwide as of July 2026, with the Phantom Liberty expansion accounting for 15 million of those sales. While specific plot details, characters, or release dates have not been confirmed, the film arrives as the studio continues development on the franchise's next major title.
