BBC crime drama Vigil returns for season 3 in the Arctic

The BBC has released a teaser for the third season of the crime drama ‘Vigil’, starring Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie. Moving away from its previous naval setting, the new season takes place in the Arctic, specifically around Svalbard, Norway.

The plot follows investigators Amy Silva and Kirsten Longacre as they probe the death of a British special forces member at an isolated research station. The storyline incorporates geopolitical tensions regarding resource control in the changing polar climate.

Season 3 is scheduled to premiere on August 30 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The production, handled by World Productions, was filmed in Scotland and Svalbard.

In separate entertainment news, Paramount+ is undergoing content restructuring. The service has cancelled the ‘Dexter: Original Sin’ prequel and the series ‘NCIS: Tony & Ziva’, while confirming the continuation of ‘Tulsa King’ and a ‘Clueless’ revival.
