Paramount to adapt Pierce Brown’s ‘Red Rising’ with director Francis Lawrence

Paramount Pictures has acquired the film rights to Pierce Brown’s best-selling science fiction series, ‘Red Rising’, for a cinematic adaptation. The project is set to be directed by Francis Lawrence, who is widely recognized for his work on ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise.

The film will adapt the first novel in the series, which follows Darrow, a miner on Mars living within a rigid, color-coded caste system. After a personal tragedy, Darrow undergoes a transformation to infiltrate the elite ‘Gold’ class to dismantle the oppressive social hierarchy from within.

Justin Rhodes is tasked with writing the screenplay. The production team includes Lawrence and Cameron MacConomy through their banner, About:Blank, alongside Francesco Goedhuis. Pierce Brown will serve as an executive producer. While the film is currently in the development stage, no official release date or cast members have been announced.
