Paraná advances electronic waste treatment and disposal

The RAE and NFU Center in Paraná has completed its sixth shipment of electrical and electronic waste (e-waste) this year. These materials are transported to the Basura Cero Center in Buenos Aires for final disposal and treatment.

According to Environment Undersecretary Maximiliano Pérez Vicenz, more than 20,000 kilograms of e-waste have been transferred so far in 2026. Since the program began in 2017, the initiative has successfully processed over 405,000 kilograms of electronic waste. The center also manages other special waste, including approximately 150 tires collected this year.

Residents are encouraged to bring unused electronics—ranging from large appliances to small devices like cell phones and tablets—to the center to prevent them from mixing with household trash. The facility also accepts batteries, with instructions to store them in closed containers to prevent leaks. For those unable to transport items themselves, municipal home pickup services are available by requesting assistance through the 147 helpline.
