Waste management and recycling initiatives in Paraná

Overview

The Municipality of Paraná is implementing various waste management and recycling initiatives. Through the ‘Ecoaliados’ program, the city has expanded its reach to 22 educational institutions, including five recent additions. This program involves schools collecting recyclable plastic, which is then processed by Quanta Reciclaje to create urban furniture for community spaces.

In addition to plastic recycling, the city manages electronic waste (e-waste) through the RAE and NFU Center. As of late September 2026, the center has completed its sixth shipment of e-waste to the Basura Cero Center in Buenos Aires, contributing to a total of over 405,000 kilograms processed since 2017. The municipality provides collection services for electronics, batteries, and tires, offering home pickup via a dedicated helpline for residents.
