Paraná enables video call requests for domestic violence protective measures

Victims of domestic violence in Paraná, Brazil, can now request urgent protective measures via video call, removing the initial requirement to visit a police station in person. This service is provided free of charge by the Public Defender's Office, which offers support, legal guidance, and forwards requests to the Judiciary.

In addition to remote video calls, assistance is available in person at Poupatempo Paraná units. Beyond protective orders, the service provides legal orientation regarding family matters such as divorce, child support, and child custody.

Data from the Court of Justice of Paraná (TJPR) indicates a significant scale of violence in the state, with 37,522 new cases of domestic violence against women recorded in the first half of 2026. During the same period, 161 new judicial occurrences related to femicide were registered. In cases of immediate risk, authorities advise contacting the Military Police via 190.
