Paraná gubernatorial race: Sandro Alex seeks to continue Ratinho Junior's model
Sandro Alex, the PSD pre‑candidate for governor of Paraná, told the media that he has visited all 399 municipalities of the state and intends to carry forward the "Modelo Paraná" introduced by incumbent Governor Ratinho Junior. He emphasizes fiscal austerity, efficient administration and increased investment in municipalities, claiming the model has made Paraná the fourth‑largest economy in Brazil and aims to lift it to the third position.
Federal deputy Ricardo Barros warned that Alex may struggle to win votes in Curitiba, the state capital, where he faces strong competition from former mayor Sergio Moro, former mayor Rafael Greca and opposition figure Requião Filho. Barros noted that the federation could still court Moro despite earlier disagreements, underscoring the need for Alex to build a broader alliance to secure urban support in the metropolitan area.
