Paraná 2026 governor race: Polling shifts and new platforms
Overview
The Paraná gubernatorial race has intensified as new polling data and campaign proposals emerge. According to a survey by Paraná Pesquisas, Senator Sergio Moro (PL) has taken a lead in the race with 45% of intended votes, followed by Requião Filho (PDT) at 24% and Sandro Alex (PSD) at 17.5%. Requião Filho currently holds the highest rejection rate at 36.6%.
Sandro Alex has continued to expand his platform, shifting from his previous stance on state companies by now advocating for the privatization of Celepar to prevent technological depreciation. His recent proposals include the creation of specialized endometriosis centers via the SUS, expanded electronic monitoring for aggressors of women with protective orders, and the continuation of coastal revitalization projects in Matinhos, Pontal do Paraná, and Guaratuba.
Alex has also introduced technological and cultural initiatives, including a proposal to unify emergency services like SAMU and Civil Defense through a centralized system utilizing artificial intelligence for initial triage. Additionally, he plans to establish a ‘Cidade do Cinema’ (Cinema City), a cultural hub designed to attract production companies through dedicated spaces for filming, editing, and set creation.
National political influence is expected to grow, with Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva scheduled to campaign alongside Requião Filho in Curitiba, and Flávio Bolsonaro planning a visit to Ponta Grossa. Meanwhile, Senate candidate Alexandre Curi has proposed a ‘Fundo Sul’ (South Fund) to provide regional financing for Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul.
