Paraná implements new recycling program and simplified business licensing

The Municipality of Paraná has launched several new administrative and environmental initiatives aimed at urban sustainability and economic agility.

The Ecovecinales Program has been introduced to optimize the recycling circuit through neighborhood-based waste separation. The strategy focuses on source separation and the installation of green containers for recyclable materials. The pilot phase will begin in five neighborhoods, starting with San Martín, and will include environmental education workshops and a mobile green point for collecting plastics and paper.

Simultaneously, the city is implementing a new commercial licensing regime designed to simplify the authorization process for businesses. For low-complexity activities, entrepreneurs can now begin operations immediately upon submitting required documentation, with inspections occurring afterward. These licenses will now be valid for six years and will utilize QR codes instead of paper certificates to allow real-time verification of business data and compliance. Higher-complexity activities will continue to require prior inspections but will benefit from streamlined digital processing.
