Paraná municipalities honor educators for Ideb performance

Municipalities in the state of Paraná, Brazil, are recognizing education professionals for their performance on the Basic Education Development Index (Ideb).

In Pato Branco, Mayor Géri Dutra and Education Secretary Ivete Ferrarini Iakmiu honored municipal school directors for maintaining or improving their Ideb scores. The mayor emphasized that while infrastructure is vital, human capital is the essential driver of quality education. The secretary noted that the scores represent the collective effort of teachers, students, and families to foster student autonomy.

In Quatro Pontes, the municipality reported an increase in its Ideb score from 7.2 in 2023 to 7.8, placing it 25th among municipalities in Paraná. Mayor Cesar Alexandre Seidel and Education Secretary Franciele Becker recognized the technical-pedagogical team and staff from the Dona Leopoldina Municipal School. Local officials attributed the improvement to continuous psychological and cognitive monitoring, remedial classes, and increased parental involvement.
