Paraná weather: Heavy rain and storm alerts across the state

Paraná is experiencing significant weather instability characterized by heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and rising temperatures. The El Niño phenomenon is expected to favor frequent cold fronts, potentially leading to above-average rainfall through the end of the year, particularly in the South and West regions.

Recent storms have already caused damage across the state. In Laranjeiras do Sul, a strong windstorm affected 3,429 people and damaged 984 homes, prompting the Civil Defense to provide 5,200 roof tiles for repairs. Other municipalities, including Santa Izabel do Oeste and Cruzeiro do Sul, also reported residential damage from wind and hail.

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) has issued yellow alerts for 287 municipalities, warning of potential storms with winds of 40 to 60 km/h, hail, and heavy precipitation. While some areas are seeing a temporary rise in temperatures toward 30°C, meteorologists predict a new system will bring increased instability and rain across much of the state starting later this week.
