Paraná to hold supplementary elections and territorial plebiscite

The Regional Electoral Court of Paraná (TRE-PR) has scheduled supplementary elections and a plebiscite to take place on October 25, 2026, coinciding with the second round of the national elections.

In Santana do Itararé, supplementary elections for mayor and vice-mayor will be held following the annulment of the mandates of Élcio José Vidal and Joás Ferraz Michetti. The court ruled that the previous election involved illegal vote buying. The candidates contesting the position are Brunão Mota (PSD) and Zé Izac (PT).

Simultaneously, residents of Chopinzinho and São João will participate in a plebiscite regarding the transfer of the Alto Mirim community. The vote will determine whether the area, currently part of Chopinzinho, should be incorporated into the territory of São João. The results will be processed by local electoral zones and sent to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) for final approval.
