Paraná's fruit output climbs as dairy families train next generation

The Maringá region in Paraná has become the state’s fourth‑largest fruit‑producing area, cultivating 27 fruit species on 4.6 thousand hectares in 2025. Harvests totaled 138.3 thousand tonnes, generating a gross production value of R$ 415 million, with oranges and grapes accounting for 81.9 % of revenue.

Paranavaí led the state in fruit output by gross value, cultivated area and volume, while the combined regions of Curitiba, Jacarezinho, Maringá and Cornélio Procópio contributed nearly 60 % of the state’s fruit area, production and income. Other notable fruits include strawberries, tangerines, guavas and mangoes, each driving significant regional earnings.

In the Southwest of Paraná, dairy families are planning succession through formal training. The Lazari and Dussioni families, whose patriarchs completed an artificial insemination course in 2002, saw their children Stefani Lazari (25) and Gustavo Dussioni (22) finish the same program in 2025. The training, offered by Sistema FAEP, aims to equip the next generation with modern livestock management skills and ensure continuity of family farms.
