Paras Defence launches laser drone interceptor and plans $644 million chip plant in India

Paras Defence & Space Technologies Ltd., an Indian optics and shielding firm, has entered the directed‑energy weapons market with a new RayStrike laser‑based interceptor. The system can detect, track and destroy hostile unmanned aerial systems by burning through critical components with a high‑power laser beam, offering instant engagement, unlimited magazine capacity and low per‑engagement cost.

Separately, Paras Semiconductors, the company’s chip‑packaging subsidiary, signed an MoU with the Madhya Pradesh government to invest about ₹62 billion (≈ $644 million) in an advanced semiconductor packaging and testing facility in the Indore‑Ujjain region. The plant will focus on high‑performance packaging for strategic applications such as sensors and optronic systems, with potential future expansion into AI chips. Both initiatives are positioned as part of India’s drive for indigenous defence capabilities and semiconductor self‑reliance.
