Pardubice adopts ten‑year sport development strategy through 2035

The city of Pardubice approved a new Sport Development Strategy for the 2026‑2035 period. The plan, crafted by a 25‑member working group of municipal officials, sports clubs, schools and health experts, sets five priority areas and ten strategic goals to expand and modernise sport facilities for children, adults and seniors.

Key measures include modernising existing venues such as the Dukla sport centre, building a multifunctional hall, upgrading the horse‑track and the Zlatá přilba arena, and creating new public spaces for activity – open fields, city forests, riverbanks and residential sports courts. The strategy calls for two‑year action plans to implement the goals.

City officials highlighted the need to counter a decline in sport participation among youth aged 14‑19. “Besides supporting organised sport we must create an environment that motivates an active lifestyle,” said Ivana Liedermanová, head of the city’s sports department. Deputy mayor Jakub Rychtecký added that transparent investment planning will ensure each coin spent delivers maximal benefit for residents.
