Pardubice sports development plan

In late July 2026 the Czech city of Pardubice approved a comprehensive ten‑year Sport Development Strategy covering 2026‑2035. The plan, devised by a broad working group, set five priority areas and ten strategic goals aimed at modernising existing venues, building new multifunctional facilities, and creating public spaces for active recreation to counter a decline in youth sport participation.

Within days, the city began implementing the strategy by launching the tenth edition of the Sportovní park Pardubice. The park opened on 6 August with more than 60 clubs offering activities ranging from zumba and gymnastics to senior‑focused programs, street floorball, basketball, and a 12‑km cycling route. Concurrently, the local racecourse adjusted its main qualifying horse‑racing event to an earlier start time for safety, reflecting the strategy’s emphasis on safe, inclusive sport experiences.

These linked actions illustrate how Pardubice is moving from strategic planning to on‑the‑ground events, using newly upgraded facilities and organized programmes to promote active lifestyles across all age groups.
