Pardubice Region hit by severe storms causing power outages
Severe storms, heavy winds, and torrential rain caused widespread disruption in the Pardubice Region of the Czech Republic on Monday afternoon. The weather resulted in approximately 3,500 to 4,000 households losing electricity due to damage to high-voltage lines caused by falling trees and branches.
Emergency services responded to nearly 70 incidents, primarily involving fallen trees and branches blocking roads. Firefighters reported at least 55 fallen trees, with significant activity in the Chrudim, Pardubice, and Orlicko-Ústecký districts. In Kněžice, strong winds tore off part of a roof, requiring emergency securing.
While the storms caused property damage and infrastructure issues, no injuries were reported. The energy company ČEZ worked to repair the eight high-voltage line faults identified during the event.
