Parents occupy Fernando López Arias Secondary School over power outage
Parents at the Fernando López Arias Secondary School in La Nigua have occupied the school facilities to demand a solution to a lack of electrical power. The outage, caused by a transformer failure, has left hundreds of students without classes.
In addition to the infrastructure issues, some parents have raised concerns regarding the management of school funds. They are demanding accountability and detailed reports on the use of over 100,000 pesos collected through various school activities and fees. While parents noted that funds from the ‘La Escuela es Nuestra’ program had been previously allocated to other campus needs, they continue to seek transparency regarding current resources.
