Paris City Hall demands investigation into Argentine House management

The Paris City Hall has formally requested that French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot launch an exhaustive investigation into the management of the Maison de l’Argentine, located within the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris. The request follows several controversial decisions made under the direction of Santiago Muzio, who was appointed by the administration of Argentine President Javier Milei.

Authorities expressed serious concerns regarding the unilateral decisions of the director, which they claim violate the internal regulations of the university complex. Key allegations include the eviction of students and the non-renewal of residency contracts without providing long-term housing alternatives for the upcoming academic cycle.

Furthermore, the City of Paris highlighted the removal of commemorative plaques dedicated to the 30,000 victims of the Argentine military dictatorship. The administration also reported that the premises have been used for meetings promoting extreme right-wing ideologies, including Holocaust denial and discriminatory content, which officials described as an attack on the institution's history and values.
