Paris Marathon introduces lottery system for 2027 edition
The 2027 edition of the Paris Marathon, which will mark its 50th anniversary on April 4, 2027, is introducing significant organizational changes. Due to overwhelming demand that exceeds available spots, the event will transition to a lottery system for public bib assignments to prevent registration rushes.
ASICS has become the title partner, officially renaming the event the ‘ASICS Marathon de Paris’. HOKA will continue its title partnership for the Paris Half Marathon, scheduled for March 7, 2027. Both events will be organized by Cadence Running United, a structure comprising Keneo, OSE, and Havas.
Registration for the 2027 events opens on September 8 and runs through September 30. Prices are set at 169 euros for the marathon and 79 euros for the half marathon. To accommodate groups, runners can register in clusters of two to six people; if one member is selected in the draw, the entire group receives a bib. This shift reflects a broader global trend of exploding interest in long-distance running, where major marathons like London and Paris face massive surpluses of applicants compared to available slots.
