Paris trial: Witnesses recount fatal shooting of rugby player Federico Martin Aramburu

Testimony from eyewitnesses has provided new details in the trial regarding the fatal shooting of former rugby international Federico Martin Aramburu in Paris on March 19, 2022.

Shaun Hegarty, a former rugby player and friend of the victim, testified about the escalating tension at the Mabillon brasserie in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Hegarty described an atmosphere of hostility involving the accused, Loïk Le Priol, and Romain Bouvier. According to Hegarty, Le Priol made violent threats before the shooting occurred.

A restaurant server, Fabien, testified that he witnessed the victim collapse after gunshots rang out and attempted to perform cardiac massage until the severity of the bleeding prevented him from continuing. Additionally, a delivery driver, Christian, testified that he witnessed multiple shots being fired directly at Aramburu from his vantage point in a nearby vehicle. The driver noted that the gunman fled toward rue de Seine following the incident.
