Polish Catholic parishes observe national St. Christopher week, bless vehicles

Starting on 19 July 2026, parishes across Poland began the 27th nationwide St. Christopher week, organized by the missionary association MIVA Polska. The campaign invites drivers to donate one grosz for each kilometre travelled, with proceeds funding transport for Polish missionaries serving in locations such as Zambia, Cameroon, Kenya and Ukraine. On 25 July, the feast of St. Christopher, parishes bless vehicles after every Mass, praying for road safety. The initiative is repeated in the following Sundays, with collections also supporting parish‑level repairs and charitable projects.

Individual parishes announced their liturgical calendars, including celebrations of St. Maria Magdalena, St. Brygida, St. Kinga and St. Joachima, as well as pilgrimages to the Jasna Góra sanctuary and local cultural events such as organ concerts and exhibitions. Many churches also noted regular devotional practices—Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, novenas, and pilgrim meetings—while encouraging donations for church upkeep and missionary aid.

Overall, the coordinated effort highlights the Catholic community’s emphasis on road safety, missionary support, and communal worship during the summer liturgical season.
