Park Yong-su identity released in Naju couple murder case

The Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency has released the identity and mugshot of Park Yong-su, a 53-year-old man accused of the robbery-homicide of a couple in their 60s in Naju. The decision to disclose his information was based on the cruelty of the crime, the severity of the damage, and the public interest in preventing recidivism.

On October 5, Park allegedly stabbed and strangled the couple, who were acquaintances, inside their home. The victims were later discovered with their hands and feet bound by blue tape and clothing. Following the murders, Park is accused of withdrawing approximately 6 million won from the victims' accounts and spending it at an adult entertainment venue.

While Park has claimed the stabbing was an accidental outburst, police are investigating the case as a premeditated crime. Evidence suggests he may have scouted the residence prior to the attack and used multiple vehicles, including the victims' truck, to evade capture. He was arrested on October 7 and is scheduled to be transferred to the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office.
